“For God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life”. Verse 17 goes on to further remind us that God sent Jesus not to condemn [judge] the world but to save it! [John 3:16-17].

It is time for us to acknowledge this Easter season that we were offered a gift of total redemption at the cross; it is a nonrefundable gift. Here is the thing: our engagement. Like any type of engagement, it is to interact with others. God reached out 95% of the way, we simply need to engage in that last 5%. Turn around and engage! He’s already walking the same walk next to us, what if we were to ask Him to walk with us?

“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed” [1 Peter 2:24]. By His death, He made invalid the very idea that you are unloved and devalued. If you ever feel that way, you’re not looking at the cross. He proved His love for you there.

Have you ever thought of what the cross means to you? Is it more than a piece of jewelry or tattoo? I’ve always known it to be the place where Christ died for my sins, however, I never put any deeper thought into what that really means. Jesus Christ died a criminal’s death; His blood was shed to cover a multitude of sins, our sins. What kind of love this must be. “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” [John 15:13]. Jesus was then resurrected three days later offering us the gift of eternal life. But it’s even more than that, He wants to engage with us in the here & now. He wants to be a part of our everyday lives. This gift of unconditional love has already been given; as I stated above, it’s nonrefundable; we simply need to accept this. When one has a relationship with God [and it becomes real and personal] everything changes [this is further confirmed in Romans 12:2].

Dear God,
Thank you. Thank you for your unconditional love and your unending grace. Thank you for sending your Son who made the ultimate sacrifice for us; who offers us hope in our everyday, ordinary lives. Forgive us for the moments that we allow our busy lives to consume our minds; sometimes becoming unappreciative of all that you have given us. Forgive us for anything known or unknown that separates our hearts from you, Lord. We invite you to fill us with your love and to renew our minds; breathe new life into us. In Your name, we pray – Amen.

With love in Christ,
