Break Every Chain

chain_breakerMy parents taught me at a very young age that if I was scared or struggling with something difficult and I called upon the name of Jesus, He would offer me peace and provide me strength. As a child, you understand this differently than as an adult. I believe that God is thought of more like a superhero to a child rather than grasping the the whole relation of Him as our designer and Heavenly Father (of course, everyone is different). VeggieTales has a great perspective on this topic for young kiddos called “Where’s God When I’m S-Scared?” As you transition from child to adult, your knowledge and faith in God will either grow into a beautiful relationship or it will deteriorate due to free will, life experiences, tragedy, etc. Personally, my transition was never one extreme or another. (Of course, that’s all in my perspective. You may receive a different response from another perspective but I was never drug addicted or anything like that). I simply teetered on that line of living a life led by the world and one led by God. I had accepted Him into my heart and had been baptized but I had never really surrendered my life to God until early 2017. In all honesty, I’m sure I’m still holding onto bits and pieces that I’m not fully entrusting Him with but even still here I am with a whole new concept of who Christ really is to me (compared to my vague concept as a child) and every day I learn something new.

I’m grateful to have come to the realization that God offers us peace and comfort, unconditional love, strength and courage, along with freedom. There is a difference between having been taught this concept all of my life and actually grasping this concept. Once the lightbulb goes off and the relation clicks, the transformation is incredible. Keep in mind that some things may not change all at once. Of course, everyone’s experience is different but some things may take months or even years, however, if you trust in Him and you yield to His plan, your purpose will unfold. His promise to us is that our blessings are just beyond our obedience. And if we keep our focus on Him and trust in His plan then we can be 1527714281472_image.jpgconfident that He is working everything for the good of those who love him (Romans 8:28). The beautiful thing is that God will never give up on us. Even when we give up on ourselves or others do, He never will. He will always be our one constant from birth. And when we feel defeated or powerless, He will be there to give us the strength and courage that we need to break every chain.

No matter the situation you find yourself in, may God be with you today and always.

With love in Christ,

Bekah
