We Don’t Always Get to Know Why

You may look around and think to yourself, how did we get to this?

Every step we take and all of the choices we make, it all has a purpose along with an impact. We can sit here and ask, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ or ‘How can God look down and see all of the evil and do nothing?’ Here’s the thing – we don’t always get to know why. There are going to be many moments throughout all of our lives that we don’t understand the why. The beauty is that if we know God then we don’t need to know all of the why’s. And if we know God then we can have faith that He’s not just ‘sitting around doing nothing’.

Think about this: Just because things aren’t going the way you planned; doesn’t mean they aren’t going the way it should. God created each of us with a purpose to fulfill AND no one else can fulfill our own purpose. God intended so much more for our world. He created and designed us to love one another and to live peacefully and abundantly. We as humans have chosen to separate ourselves from God through sin and selfish desires. Even so, God wants to share life with us. God will stop at no end to allow us every opportunity to know Him; to be a part of His family as He intended. Hence He made the ultimate sacrifice and “Gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” – John 3:16. All we have to do is accept Him<3

Not everything in this world is good, in fact, there is quite a lot of evil amongst us; but then again, even with all of the evil that is present, there is still quite a lot of good. Watch how the following story unfolds (if you are familiar with Grey’s Anatomy at all, you may know what I’m talking about and please note that I’m taking a scenario and using it for this specific purpose). Bare with me if you are not familiar with the show (it’s not really about the show itself), April Kepner is an attending trauma surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital who has been “dealt a hand” full of incredible loss. She had been the one character within this show that stuck out because of her profound faith in God until one day she lost her faith (yes, I do understand that this is a script for a secular TV show that has millions of viewers but stick with me). After weeks of what seemed like an unending downward spiral, April encounters a patient who happens to be a Rabbi. Without all of the nitty-gritty details, the producer of the show placed this Rabbi in this moment for a purpose and he had to die to fulfill this purpose; that purpose was to allow April the understanding that “We don’t always get to know why” but to remember that God is in control.

Now if you can think of just how many times these types of scenarios actually happen, maybe you’ll realize how many times God has stepped in and sent someone for you to encounter, or vice versa. Romans 8:28 puts it this way, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him…”

If you are going through a really tough season, or know someone who is, I want you to know that God loves you and He is with you, walking through the same muck and mire that you are. He’s right there with an outstretched hand just waiting for you to trust Him. If you have never talked with God and you don’t know where to start, or maybe it’s just been a long time, I would love the opportunity to pray for you ❤

With love in Christ,
